The Art of Movement: My Favorite Forms of Exercise

One of the greatest ways to master discipline is through consistent exercise. Growing through the 75 Hard Challenge (Day 24) has made me realize just how much of a gift our body is, and that movement is an art. Ten times out of ten, you’re not sad. You just need to move. Here are four of my favorite ways to get active:

Walking

Years ago, I thought walking was a mundane task or one that would get me to a specific destination. Now, I consider it a method of transformation. Long walks always boost my mood, inspire my creativity, and connect me to nature. When in doubt, walk it out. Put on your favorite podcast or playlist and get to stepping.

Weight Lifting

Being in the gym and lifting weights reminds me of how capable, strong, and sexy I am. I love lifting because it always boosts my confidence, and did I mention how sexy it makes me look and feel? Seriously.

Yoga

Where the mind, body, and breath connect. Yoga is truly a gift, and I am forever grateful to my dance instructor for introducing it to me. Yoga brings me clarity and peace and expands my love for self. When I am on a yoga mat, nothing else matters. There is no place I’d rather be. Yoga has a way of bringing you back to the present moment.

Barre

A combination of ballet, pilates, and yoga- a very high-intensity and low-impact workout. If you’re ready for a challenge, do barre. I went through a phase of taking 6:00 am barre classes, and every single time, I left questioning who I am because… girl. LOL!

I hope this post inspires you to get up and get ACTIVE. Somewhere in the world, someone is incapable of moving their body. Love yours and treat it as a gift.

With love and a little bit of sweat,

H
